City&Experiences
I am already experiencing the Madrid city as a stranger, having a new field of
view and experience with the spatial experiences of George Perec.
The
route I made at different points of the city is some of the old settlements of
Madrid. These living spaces, which are almost nested structures, are places
where human-space interaction is intense in terms of the time when they are
witnesses and the location they have (in the city center). Therefore, it is not
wrong to say that the space for this location is continuously consumed and
reproduced. At the same time it has a distinctive identity as a living area of
a certain social strata, with its presence in contemporary living conditions,
and its past life conditions.
The
venue is also the venue of the user is never constant. Although the place seems
to be fixed, experiencing human temporary, spaces with time, as well as with
social, cultural and political processes, are changing.
Even
though we are in a desire for a constant change in our lives, we are looking
for a stable order, in fact, fixed. However, we can not say that it is
possible, as long as the person who tends to acquire permanent property
consumes the area in which he is present. As George Perec says: "The place
of our lives is neither continuous nor infinite, nor homogeneous."
I
began to think about the route I created in Madrid in this study through the
connotations of Perec's space descriptions on the first pages of the book. Each
page has been transformed into another place through these definitions. This
work, which I started by reflecting the initial connotations, has spread into
time and turned into an area of experience that I can add to my work in the
process. For me the pink outer surface represents the appearance, the surface.
